Welcome!

I will be seeing clients in my new location beginning in August. For now, take a look around and I’ll see you soon!

Meet the Therapist

Hi there! My name is Cheryl Jacoby, I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Morehead City, North Carolina. I have been a licensed mental health counselor in the community for over 2 years. Although I have experience working with adults and couples, I specialize in working with children and adolescents. I have spent most of my career working in schools as a School Counselor and 504 Coordinator providing counseling and support services. I have worked extensively with youth and families from a variety of different backgrounds on issues including social skills, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, transition difficulty, depression, self harm behaviors, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum disorder.

How Therapy Can Help

Individual therapy can be very helpful in a variety of different ways. Therapy can help develop positive coping skills, change negative behaviors, build self-esteem and even help in learning social and relationship skills.

My Approach to Therapy

Everyone is experiencing something unique. I take a very person centered approach to individual needs and goals utilizing a combination of evidence-informed therapeutic approaches. Depending on client needs, I will utilize a combination of methods based in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness and Solution Focused Therapy.

Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives.
